Jump$tart National Conference (a little late!)

I thought I had blogged about this event earlier, but the quickly approaching holidays and trimester end at school fogged my brain. So here it is, my reflection on the Jump$tart National Conference.

Thanks so much to Visa Practical Money Skills!  I was selected as one of seven educators nationwide to receive a scholarship to attend this great conference in Los Angeles over Veteran’s Day weekend.

Here we are!  The seven of us were also filmed for a little video to be used by Visa Practical Money Skills. If you’d like to see it, take a look:

We were welcomed on the first night in a glitzy Hollywood premiere atmosphere! We were served champagne while waiting in line and then were photographed by the paparazzi. What an entrance! Here I am with my good friend and fellow Personal Finance teacher, Julie Giglia. This was at the premiere event that first night.

I had a great time at the conference, networked with so many new people, and learned a lot.  I’m most excited about incorporating some of Peter Bielagus’ Money in the Movies videos in my Personal Finance classes. He gave such a great presentation and really wrapped up the conference nicely.

I also have to give a “shout out” to Next Gen Personal Finance! I won their $50 giveaway at the vendor showcase. Yay! If there’s one thing that teachers love, it’s money to buy office supplies 🙂

There was lots and lots of Tweeting as well. Several of my tweets made the big board. I, of course, tweeted my tweet 🙂

I even had a little time to visit with family and see the Hollywood Walk of Fame!  My favorites, Harrison Ford and John Travolta!
