Kiva.org microloan breakdown

kiva-logoAfter being notified that my students received loan repayments this week, I began to think more about what types of loans they were selecting. Coincidentally, I found that Kiva.org does give some analysis of the loans in your lending portfolio. I will preface these graphs with the fact that I do not give my students any sort of direction for selecting a loan to fund, other than it needs to be outside of the Unites States. We already make donations to local organizations here, so I wanted to spread the love into other areas. Here is how our loans have been panned out:

The business sectors and countries were rather diverse, but my students clearly favored female entrepreneurs. I’ll have to keep tabs on that over the upcoming school year to see how they make their decisions.

If you are interested in joining Kiva.org to make your own microloans, please consider signing up with our referral link. It will give us another $25 in our account to loan! Thank you.
