STEAM Challenge Day – Playing Card Towers

Today was our first STEAM Challenge Day! Students were tasked with building the tallest tower possible using playing cards. The cards could be cut, folded, or modified in any way, but no additional materials were allowed. I originally intended on having the students complete the analysis sheet that typically goes with the project, but we ran out of time! They were having so much fun. Normally, students would reflect on the teamwork, engineering design process, STEAM skills used, and related careers. I guess we’ll just have to do that on next month’s STEAM challenge!
